Treatment & Care Of Hives & Angioedema

Antihistamines are the standard treatment for hives and angioedema. In case of severe inflammation, your doctor may give injections of epinephrine or a cortisone. Always consult your doctor for medications. It is not necessary that you will get better with every antihistamine. Sometimes, you may need to change the active drug. It is always better to get treated under medical supervision. Cold compresses and showers help reduce irritation. Wear loose cotton clothes and avoid any irritation to the skin.

You can be more at risk of getting hives and angioedema if you have had other allergic reactions, or if you or any family member has had hives before. In this case, you should try to find out what triggers hives in you and avoid the triggers carefully.
