Acne: Acne In Adolescents

Acne & Adolescent Years

Most teenagers are affected by some form of acne. Race or ethnicity makes no difference. If you are a teenager who has acne, don't lose heart. Every teen gets it. Some get less, and some get more, but very few teenagers escape acne.

As you grow, your hormones become very active during teenage years. These hormones, (mainly sexual hormones), activate the sebaceous glands and the glands produce more sebum. At the same time the pores of hair follicles get blocked with dead skin cells. This causes acne.
